SELECT * FROM V$NLS_PARAMETERS WHERE PARAMETER LIKE '%CHARACTERSET%'; SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE; STARTUP RESTRICT; ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET INTERNAL_USE AL32UTF8; ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET AL32UTF8; SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE; STARTUP; SELECT * FROM V$NLS_PARAMETERS WHERE PARAMETER LIKE '%CHARACTERSET%';

These steps are not in any official Oracle documentation for a good reason - they are not supported. Performing these steps will cause your database to be corrupted beyond repair. Best to follow the steps to migrate the characterset as per official documentation.
