Scarab beetles are my favourite beetles of all time! Many species are huge, possessing unique spines and horns of various sizes and shapes. For Canadian Thanksgiving, I managed to get my hands on a bin full of scarab beetles, rhinoceros beetles to be exact (Xylotrupes gideon philippinensis), to feed to my ant colonies. The massive scarab beetle grubs were monstrous and meaty creatures, with powerful mandibles and hairy bodies. The larvae eat decaying wood and plant matter, and grow to become absolutely massive beetles. When it came time to feed the grubs to my ant colonies, however, something happened that changed the entire plan and fate of the young beetles. Hope you enjoy this week's video! Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

I absolutely hate bugs, especially beetles, they freak me out lol. But when I heard you say you were gonna feed your ants with the grubs, I got worried! When you decided to keep them I was so relieved! 😂😂
Names for the beetles? My niece and I mulled over a few for review:
Shovel, Molebug, Wormwood, Coconut, Eeks, Baragon, Stun, Megalon, Heracross, Pinsir, Karrablast, Grubbin, Rhino.
Also, to answer your question:
Because they will fight each other or bite each other.
I think that most of the people that thumb down the video did it without actually watching it and because of the title, which made them believe that you fed the beetles to the ants. If they had watched the video, they would have known that you didn't. I'm glad you didn't, as I like beetles, and I don't like roaches, but even roaches I wouldn't be able to cut in half with scissors, yet I don't mind them becoming the meal of other insects and animals.
Well trees are basically the motionless kind of humans. We take the necessary nutrients we need. Store it. Spend that said nutrient and some time later die of either natural causes or too much damage. Plus that’s why they have those huge mandibles because they evolved bite through the fibers. (I’m such a nerd at science omg hahahahha)
I saw lots of scarab beetles. My grandma lives in a camping park and sometimes we can find lost of scarab beatles, they never are in random places, they are always in weird places like outside of a public bathroom, but they are all around.Sad that they dont are around anymore I just cant find them when Im at the park, but I really liked them.
Those beetles are delicious if it fell to a great Cook's hand😋 it became a famous dish in our place not only it helps us/the farmers about those beetles it also fills our stomach(we only hunt for beetles if it grown in large number so our place won't be destructed it means balancing the Eco system)
Sorry I have a soft heart but... You did it the right way, you did not cut the larvae in half. To be honest I almost cried cause of that, thank you AntsCanada for not killing it. It's probably the most hardest decision but it's the right thing.
I'm so happy this went this way. I currently have on order a giant caucasis beetle grub and a hercules beetle larva. The grubs will be enormous. They are big enough to completely cover my whole palm with outstretched fingers
