Here’s a review of 9 of my favorite bags. I review bags semi-professionally, so here’s the bags that have stood out to me over the past couple years.

Hey Chase, could you by any chance do a review on the best travel bag for someone who wants to do one bag travel but also has to carry a couple of huge reference books? Two specifically, two big huge books. This information in these books is not on the internet so it's not an option for me not to have them. I am a researcher and will be in both city and rural environments in SE Asia. I know this is not a common request which is probably why no reviews cater to this need. I personally don't need a million tec organization pockets, but I'm committed to 1 bag travel and I just need a bag that can handle my giant books and a super minimal wardrobe.
Time for an update of this theme. Chase please do an update of your top picks for the 2019 year. Day bag, small travel, large travel and duffels and other shit. If you had to pick one of each kind of thing.
I don't get how any travelers could use any backpacks without exterior bottle holders? (Tom Bihn). They show on their website a travel bag using a hydration bladder? ROFL. You can tell Americans don't travel outside their country. Travelers buy water and bevies in bottle form, usually sweating profusely. The last thing you'll want to do is put your cold, wet beverages inside your pack. Also like coffee spilled on your clothes? Yeah, no thanks.
Hey Chase . I got a questions for you . So I'm going to Europe for two weeks not trying to take too many bags or suitcases so this video is helpful. I want to buy a bag I could come back and still use. I ride a bicycle and love taking pictures . So I need organization also weatherproof .I also like roll tops but it's not a deal-breaker. I have a t level messenger bag but it's kind of getting old and I want to upgrade . I like the Peaks everyday carry but feel like it's not waterproof enough. What do you recommend.
Check out the Rhake: http://bagworks.co/bag/mission-workshop-rhake-backpack/
And then my BIG list here: http://bagworks.co/daily-carry-bags/
Lots on that list that could work for what you're saying. Bon Voyage!
please do a review on Mystery Ranch 3 Day Assault. I am surprise not to see any of their bags. Many of them are made in the United States. I think it's a great every day carry (EDC) and great 1-3 Day Travel Backpack
Hey chase, just came across you're channel today, and honestly am so glad I did. Looking for a backpack and was looking for something in between a traveler/backpacking. A look I'm trying to go off is the steep tech from the north face. One I did find was the r101f by orbit. Was wondering what you thought of this company and their products and if you could please give me suggestions of a bag you think I'd like from the 2 bags I just mentions. Please please a simple reply, a video, or anything ! I need a backpack soon!
Whoever said the rain cover isn't necessary was WRONG. The last trip I went on, having one was so appreciated. Rain that's coming down hard, is too much for most backpacks even if they're very water resistant.
please can someone please tell me the name of this backpack that I watched on a youtube video about 1 maybe 2 years ago. this backpack had a single magnetic closing mechanism & I know theres the lifepack one & the wndrd one but they are not it. im sure in the video this guy packs this bag n then goes off on a motorbike. thanks in advance if anyone knows
Hey there! I found a backpack you can sit on! Please see if you can get one to review. I am always looking to sit down especially in lines! It is bagobago.com. Apparently it has a hidden stool in it so where ever you go with your bag you can sit! If you decide to interview it please tell the manufacturer to make a bigger one cause that one won’t fit my stuff!
I’m a review hound... I mean I watch a shit ton of reviews about everything, and your approach is not only refreshing, but interesting. Here I am reviewing a reviewer, but I really appreciate your attitude and information. The best thing is that as I’m typing this, I don’t feel like you need validation which makes me want to fucking validate you more! Bag reviews... who’d have thought
Chase, I would love it if you could make a video dedicated to anti-theft type bags (branded that way or bags that you think have good anti-theft features). I'm a one-bag minimalist traveler and I want to invest in one nice looking, durable, secure bag that doesn't look like I'm carrying everything I own on my back.
Chase Reeves I think that one is too big. I’m only 5’ 2” and I’m more of a 25ish liter kind of person. 😁 I’m looking at the Tom Bihn Synapse 25, and you seemed to have a pretty good opinion of that in the review. I fly cheap airlines and like to avoid carryon fees!
Love Your reviews of the bags. It seems like you have some really great knowledge. Wanted to know have you ever seen a back pack for under $100 with these features: Padded hip/waist belt, easy access side laptop compartment and 26 to 32 L found the Venturesafe X30 Anti-Theft Adventure Backpack. check it out at https://www.ebags.com/product/pacsafe/venturesafe-x30-anti-theft-adventure-backpack/306282?productid=10396493 The only things I dislike are that its too expensive and I don't need all the anti theft stuff it just adds weight and cost. Also it doesn't have a side access laptop compartment like I'm looking for. I travel a lot on surf trips some of the travel times are 36 hours+ with 4 flights and layovers. I fly through airports with a lot of walking and as I am small at 5'4" and 128Lbs it weighs on my shoulders and back quickly. I have hiking backpacks with waist belts and those are a lifesaver but they don't work well for travel on a plane or have a designated laptop compartment. PLEASE HELP! thank you!
First advice: raise your price a bit and get something that will last a long time. Second advice, you could maybe go for a roll top backpack, like, any old roll top. I’m partial to the bags from YNOT. But also, Minaal carry on sounds perfect for you, as does the tortuga homebase backpack and Tom bihn synapse 25. This last one will last you 20 years, compared to a $100 bag which you’ll have to replace every 5 (and which can leave you STRANDED with a broken zip in Indonesia.)
Use my links if you can! :) but have some great surf trips. I’m surfing in mex right now :)
What i love Youtube for is that you can find prople who loves something as much as you even though it is not a typical think to admire or love. And these are Backpacks!
Love you man, i mean your videos and the manner you describe things in :D
I just wish i could afford buying all these bags. But thanks to the crazy sh*t going on with a currency rate in my country i could barely afford Aer travel :)
Additionally, since you are digging Peak Design stuff... you may be into camera bags a bit.. check out the Think Tank Perception Pro, that's my daily work/camera bag. Not really for travel as it's optimized for lenses and what not.
I subscribed just because You’re super entertaining! I am a fan of Tom Bihn - specifically the Synapse 19! I just discovered Tom Bihn and within a week, I’ve spent a bunch of $$ on the S19 and accessories like their packing cubes, packing cube shoulder bag, the snake charmer, the Freudian Slip, the MacBook cache, extra zipper pulls, organizer pouches, key straps, utility strap, and so much more. Love your enthusiasm for the bags. Thanks.
Man, you're amazing!! Thank you so much. I'm trying to figure out what backpack buy for one bag travel. I'm between the Tom Bihn Synapse 25, the AER travel Pack, the Tortuga Setout backpack or the Wndrd Prvke 31. Which does anyone recommend? Keep doing what you do man! It's Awesome
Aer and Setout are really big. Synapse and Prvke are medium sized and capable to use as daily carry when you get to the destination. WANDRD you kind of can’t lose if you like that bag. Use the links when you purchase if you can! ;)
Great video :-) I don't suppose you're planning on doing a review of the Allpa 35L are you? Or just any opinions in general?
Also, as far as use is concerned, do you happen to do much camping? If so, do you have a favourite with that in mind?
Really did like the video, cheers for making it :-) I'll be sure to use one of your links when I decide what exactly I'll be buying (although at the moment I'm thinking maybe the allpa 35L)... All the best with everything, love your passion :-) Emma from Australia.
I use the 5.11 Rush 72 bag. A behemoth of a bag for minimalism but it is so organized you just can't go wrong. Marketed as a military type bag, so I bought it at a surplus store but it is well worth it. Most other bags I've seen in stores just simply cannot compare haha
I used my rain cover all the time in Bali! Here's the scenario. You get done at your coworking space only to realize you have to motorbike back to your villa in a monsoon. Rain happens! Thankfully your island woredrobe is comprised of no more than board shorts and flipflops. No worries if you get wet. Thanks to the Minaal rain cover you don't have to worry about your precious gear either. BOOM! Others might be stranded or forced to find a trash bag to cover their own packs with, while you can continue exploring or mosey home to enjoy a fresh coconut.
Hi Reeves. Rather good video again, ol' chap. I'd appreciate it if you could review the Deuter 40 transit and the North Face Overhaul 40 as there's no info. or availibilty on this side of the pond and they look goooood( it's so unfair that you rebels have the best and widest choice of gear - I'm crying into my tea!). Ta and cheers form Albion.
This whole backpack craze, which has suddenly been popular the last 10 years or so, needs to end! Why did people suddenly have the need to carry so much stuff with them when they aren't even hiking or traveling? People wearing backpacks have no business in crowded subways. They need to either take them off and put them between their feet, otherwise, take a damn taxi! Quit being inconsiderate!
Check out this in-depth review of the Minaal Daily. It highlights usage as 1) Everyday work/office bag, and 2) Travel day pack.
OK, just got the S25 today and have to admit in Halcyon it really not only looks like a Dad bag but a Dad Diaper Bag...ugh...back it goes in exchange for manly Ballsitic. At least I can admit I was wrong. +1 on your call.
Stop selling me on every bag!!! Haha, every video I watch I'm like, "yep, this is the bag for me". Then I watch the next one and you convince me that's what I want. I'm new to your videos but do you have a number bag that you use no matter what?
