For years, we have used a design of backpack that was loved by the swiss mountaineers in my country. My grandfather did have one like that. Today, L.L.Bean has patterned the Continental rucksack after those vintage backpack to bring an excellent product for all you bushcrafters and longhunters!

Military Surplus Packs/Rucksacks (Alice Pack, USMC ILBE, etc) are a great investment for many reasons. Military Surplus Packs/Rucksacks are made to last and cheap, comfort might be low depending on the one you buy. Some people will want to use these as prepper or bug out bags, other just as a wilderness bag like myself. The USMC ILBE is highly comfortable, while some older vintage type bags are not. The price on Military Suplus Packs/Rucksacks is usually reasonable and much less than consumer packs, but you will give up some comfort. The Alice Pack for example is an example of a decent comfort level, yet high carry rate and very versatile with having an external frame. But something like a Swiss Mountain Ruck Sack (Rubberized) is highly weather resistant, but comfort is an afterthought, but still is cheap around $20 currently. When it comes to Military Surplus Packs/Ruck Sacks you just have to try them out and see which one works for you, trial and error really. https://www.facebook.com/capberz www.captainberz.com

Find out more about this amazing bag here: http://amzn.to/1WTGHUx The Isle Royale Bushcraft Jr pack by Frost River is a waxed canvas bushcraft pack with both a classic look and rugged construction. I purchased this pack several months ago in searching for a versatile pack I could use on my bushcraft, hiking, and backpacking trips as well as other trips I take from time to time. It is entirely hand made in Duluth Minnesota by Frost River and the quality is supreme. I personally liked the look and feel of this pack so it is now my "go-to" pack for my wanderings in the wilderness. The main portions of the pack are made from waxed canvas. The shoulder straps are made from leather and padded buckskin. Other straps are made from leather as well, with all fittings being made entirely of brass. The side cinch lashings are tied together with paracord. I have used this pack for as many as 5-6 days in the wilderness. I have also used this pack for a 36 mile bike-and-camp where I biked 18 miles, spent the night and biked 18 miles back the next day. I have also used this pack as my carry-on during a recent flight to Colorado. In all of these scenarios, the pack exceeded my expectations. This pack offers incredible versatility, is "bombproof", and offers a ton of space options. It's ideal use would be for 5-day trips, tops Although I love this pack, no pack is perfect, and I have discovered the following in using this pack: 1) Back sweat can build up during day hikes as there is no frame or back ventilation system to wick it away. This isn't a problem for me, but for those of you who have an aversion to sweat, you might want to look somewhere else. I was surprised by the fact that for waxed canvas, this thing is incredibly breathable. 2) It takes some getting used to. The first couple of days in wearing this thing (on a week-long trek) took several strap adjustments to get it "just right" on my shoulders. Because this isn't a frame-pack, and because it does not have a waist belt, your shoulders and sternum bear the brunt of whatever load you are carrying. The shoulder straps had a tendency to cause discomfort in my shoulders until I had it adjusted properly. Otherwise, this is a pack that you will hand down to your grandkids. It's just that level of quality. This was another reason for my purchase of it. One last thing that really impressed me about this pack was when I came home to wash the thing after my week in the mountains... As I was washing it I was able to fill the main compartment with water, AND IT HELD! It was like a bucket. Frost River did an amazing job in sealing this thing! In this video men's style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of http://www.iamalpham.com , http://www.AaronMarino.com , and http://www.peteandpedro.com is talking about the man bag. This video was in partnership with my favorite man bag company (NutSac). The man bag is increasing essential accessory in the modern man's style arsenal. In this video men's style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro goes over why you need a man bag, what makes a man bag a 'man bag', and how to pick one. Why You Need a Man Bag Alpha talks about the man bags he owns, and how a man bag has saved his life in the past. The bag has been functional (and incredibly valuable) and now it's becoming fashionable, comfortable, and advantageous rather than using pockets. Alpha discusses all of the crap that men carry around these days (not including computers): phones which are getting bigger, wallets, keys, headphones, phone chargers, shades, and gum / mints. With a man bag, your pockets are free from crap and you can carry stuff with style and class. What Makes a Man Bag Backpack - great for carrying heavy stuff. It's not a man bag! Traditional and Modern Briefcases - the super structured formal option isn't that functional for carrying stuff other than paper and pens, and you don't see them that much anymore. If you have a computer, a modern briefcase is used. Both aren't man bags! Messenger bags - not man bags either! Man Bag Options Where do you get a man bag? They are difficult to find- you can find messenger bags and computer bags but not a ton of man bag options! Diesel Bags- overpriced for the quality. Some are funky but quality is crappy. Nutsac Bags - the greatest name for a man bag! The bags are sassy, and Alpha gets tons of compliments on his bag. Like stylish shoes, you need a variety of options for a variety of situations. You can't just have a computer bag. He covers stylish options for man bags: small to large and casual to dressy. Alpha has a multiple man bags for different situations and outfits. It's like a super cool accessory.

Rothco Classic Paratrooper Shoulder Bag- Review This bag is slightly smaller than the Vintage Classic Messenger bag. I bought this bag because it has some features that I like. I like the clasp to secure the main flap. I also like the snaps on the inner flap. It has 3 dividers in the main compartment. The shoulder strap has a pad for comfort and is removable. The cotton canvas is soft and still feels durable. All the connecting points are reinforced. If you need a very large bag, go for the Vintage Classic Messenger Bag. If you need slightly smaller and want the ability to secure the flap, go for the Paratrooper bag. I really like them both. I wish the shoulder strap on the Paratrooper bag was about 3-4 inches longer. I'm over 6 foot tall and the strap feels a little short for me. I quick review of another low budget cook system. This is the Swiss Ranger Volcano stove that is available online at many sites for around $10. I paired this with a maxpedition water bottle holder for a total of about $30 total. This stove can be used in conjunction with the swiss m1 alcohol stove, esbit tablets, or even making a small fire in the stove. Although I use my canteen cup system most often on trips, this is my second favorite. It is a versatile system that will let you use multiple types of fuel, or even just use good old nature to start a fire. It is small compact, and all of the components are nesting. Despite having some drawbacks such as the water bottle having a cork for a lid, it is still an amazing system for backpackers, hunters, campers, hikers, or anyone practicing bushcraft. For the price you can't go wrong with the system, and there is nothing that can fail you.

Here is a review of the Swedish LK35 Rucksack bought from www.militarymart.co.uk for just £14.99 Despite it's size the rucksack carries a huge amount of gear, in fact I carried enough kit in it for a two day camp. It has a metal external frame to keep the pack away from your back so that air can flow around the pack. It has a waterproof liner and an additional internal pocket.
