One Vanderbilt --- Filmed Sunday March 11 2018 --- New Construction in New York

One Vanderbilt --- New Construction in New York One Vanderbilt -- Filmed on Tuesday November 17 2017 www.youtube.com/watch?v=cF7RSW3UFlU One Vanderbilt -- Filmed on Wednesday July 5 2017 www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIoMuY6HOgo One Vanderbilt -- Filmed on Saturday July 23 2016 www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVTZVsVq3PQ One Vanderbilt -- Filmed on Sunday June 21 2015 www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O2BCXu4eFA One Vanderbilt (also One Vanderbilt Place) is a proposed supertall skyscraper on the corner of 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue in midtown Manhattan, New York City. Proposed by New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and developer SL Green Realty as part of a planned Midtown East rezoning, the tower would stand next to Grand Central Terminal. It is being designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox. When completed in 2020, the 67-floor, 1,600,000-square-foot (150,000 m2) skyscraper's roof will be 1,414 feet (431 m) high and its spire will be 1,514 feet (461 m), making it the city's third-tallest building, after One World Trade Center and the Central Park Tower – and making it taller than the nearby Chrysler Building. TD Bank has signed on as an anchor tenant for the building. SL Green Realty has agreed to make $220 million in improvements to public transportation around the building site. In July 2014, there was a dispute with Grand Central Terminal's owners over air rights, and the terminal's lawyers threatened to sue for $1 billion. On September 24, 2014, Andrew Penson, the owner of Grand Central Terminal, made an offer of $400 million in exchange for building One Vanderbilt. SL Green would spend $210 million to build transportation improvements for the subway and commuter rail stations below. Penson would sell 1.3 million square feet of air rights, which came with the station when he bought it in 2006. The floor area, which he bought at $61 per 1 square foot (0.093 m2), would be nearly 10 times as much, at $600 per square foot, for the same amount of area in September 2014. SL Green rejected the offer as a "publicity stunt", because in its September 2014 proposal to the city, for $400 per square foot, SL Green wanted to build a tower twice as big as the zoning rules permitted. As of September 2014, few details were known about the construction timeline; however, the projected completion date of 2020 was revealed December 2014. In February 2015, Vanderbilt Avenue, between 42nd and 47th Streets, was rezoned due to the Vanderbilt Corridor Rezoning Text Amendment, which allows redevelopment on the corridor. In June 2016, demolition at the site of One Vanderbilt began, starting the construction process of the skyscraper.

220 Central Park South filmed on Monday October 30 217

06:58
220 Central Park South Earlier Video on April 15, 2017 of 220 Central Park South www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dEiDk0JejM 220 Central Park South is a residential skyscraper currently under construction, being developed by Vornado Realty Trust. It is located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, in the U.S. state of New York, and is being designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects. The tower is located along Central Park South; when complete the building will have 65 floors, and will include 150 units. Completion is expected in 2017. When completed, the tower will be the tenth-tallest building in New York City, slightly shorter than Four World Trade Center. The building that previously occupied the site was a 20-story building built in 1954. It contained 124 apartments, and was purchased in 2005 by Vornado for $131.5 million. After the purchase, Vornado entered a legal battle with its rent-stabilized tenants concerning their eviction. A court sided with Vornado in 2009, and the developer ultimately settled with tenants in 2010, paying between $1.3 million and $1.56 million to those remaining in the building. Demolition of the existing structure began in 2012 after the settling of a dispute between Vornado and Extell. Extell, another developer, owned the parking garage under the previous building, and was unwilling to close it. Demolition was completed in early 2013.Robert A. M. Stern's designs were released in early 2014. The plans were approved in March 2014. The building is one of several major developments on or around 57th Street and Central Park, including 432 Park Avenue, 111 West 57th Street, and the Central Park Tower. Buying in the city’s most exclusive buildings isn’t an easy thing to do—one must, at least, possess millions of dollars, and achieving that in its own right is a mystery—but Steven Roth takes it one step further with 220 Central Park South, where, he is watching over just who shall pass into its hallowed halls. He’s basically hand-picking the buyers in his building. Steve Roth allegedly sauntered into a sales appointment that was being held with two prospective buyers, and proceeded to grill them about their backgrounds and personalities (What kind of champagne do you prefer to bathe in?) It was noted that it’s just bizarre because you don’t have many people asking personal questions like that. The occasion wasn’t a one-off. Steve Roth has allegedly showed up at all of the other sales appointments for the building. The process has been compared to the approach of co-op board interviews. If the country of France isn’t good enough to buy a co-op at River House, who passes muster at 220 Central Park South? The pool of applicants for such expensive apartment at 220 Central Park South does really not include such a wide group of people, yet there appears to be many people who are interested. Roth has allegedly turned away prospective buyers based on their answers to a preliminary questionnaire issued even before the buyers were invited into the gallery. Roth also requires that all prospective buyers come into the sales gallery, even if they live abroad.

Private Clubs of New York Part II -- The University Club filmed on Sunday July 19, 2015

02:53
The first meeting was held in the rooms of the Columbia College Law School (now the Columbia University Law School), where Theodore Dwight, the Club's first president and a Hamilton College alumnus, was a professor. After several moves, the club took over an existing town house at 26th Street and Madison Avenue in 1883. Founded to celebrate the union of social duty and intellectual life, the Club states in its charter that the purpose of the organization shall be the "promotion of Literature and Art by establishing and maintaining a Library, Reading Room and Gallery of Art, and by such other means as shall be expedient and proper for such purposes." In addition to its many grand architectural features, the University Club hosts one of New York's great private art collections, with a particularly strong group of works by great American painters such as Gilbert Stuart and Childe Hassam, who featured the Club's facade in his work "Allies Day, May 1917". By the 1890s, with its membership limited by the size of its building to 1,500 resident members and 900 who lived elsewhere, the Club was looking for a larger space, because it had nearly 600 people on a waiting list to join. It acquired the St. Luke's Hospital site and proceeded to seek an architecture firm. The firm of Charles McKim, William Mead and Stanford White, who were all members, got the architectural commission and went on to design what remains one of the grandest clubhouses of the city's prominent social clubs. Erected in 1899 in a Mediterranean Revival Italian Renaissance palazzo-style and particularly noted for its reading room (with ceiling murals by H. Siddons Mowbray modeled after the Vatican Apartments), dining room, and the attempt made by the architects to disguise a nine-story building behind what seems to be a three-story facade. McKim, Mead and White commissioned Edward F. Caldwell & Co. to provide light fixtures for the University Club among other architectural commissions for the company.

The march is created from organization founded in 2007. The philisophical basis is that women have the same constitutional right that men have to go bare-chested in public. "As long as men are allowed to be topless in public, women should have the same constitutional right. Or else, men should have to wear something to hide their chests" One of the motto's of the march is "FREE YOUR BREASTS! FREE YOUR MIND!"

Hudson Yards Development filmed on Saturday July 23, 2016

13:31
This video shows the ongoing development and construction of the Hudson Yards. Hudson Yards is a large-scale redevelopment project that is jointly planned, funded and constructed by the City of New York, the State of New York, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to encourage development along the Hudson River in Manhattan, New York City. The project includes a rezoning of the Far West Side, an extension of the New York City Subway's 7 trains to the area's newest subway station at 11th Avenue, and a renovation of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The centerpiece of Hudson Yards is a 26-to-28-acre (10.5 to 11.3 ha) mixed-use real estate development of the same name by Related Companies and Oxford Properties, currently constructed over the West Side Rail Yard. This new construction project is the largest of its kind. According to its master plan, created by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, Hudson Yards is expected to consist of 16 skyscrapers containing more than 12,700,000 square feet (1,180,000 m2) of new office, residential, and retail space. Among its components will be six million square feet (560,000 m2) of commercial office space, a 750,000-square-foot (70,000 m2) retail center with two levels of restaurants, cafes, markets and bars, a hotel, a cultural space, about 5,000 residences, a 750-seat school, and 14 acres (5.7 ha) of public open space. The rail yard development was planned after the city lost its bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics following the state's refusal to approve the proposed West Side Stadium for the New York Jets over the MTA's John D. Caemmerer West Side Yard. Hudson Yards broke ground on December 4, 2012; the first tower, an 895-foot (273 m) office building in the southeast corner of the site, opened on May 31, 2016. The over-US$20 billion development will accommodate a projected 65,000 daily visitors when completed.

The Pierre Hotel in New York

02:11
Home to some of the most wealthy Americans. There is a condominium portion of the building where Warren Buffet and Kirk Kirkorian own condominiums. The Pierre is a luxury hotel located at 2 East 61st Street at the intersection of Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York City, facing Central Park. The hotel, which was designed by Schultze & Weaver, opened in 1930, and was later acquired by Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces of India. Standing 525.01 feet (160.02 m) tall,[1] it is located within the Upper East Side Historic District as designated in 1981 by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. The 714-room Pierre Hotel that rose forty-one stories on the site of the Gerry mansion at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 61st Street allowed for unrestricted views of Central Park. It cost $15 million (approximately $210 million in 2013) to build and opened to grand fanfare in October 1930. The hotel was designed by the New York firm of Schultze and Weaver as a skyscraper that rises in a blond-brick shaft from a limestone-fronted Louis XVI base.[6] Its topmost floors render it an easily-recognizable landmark on the New York skyline; they are modeled after Mansart's Royal Chapel at Versailles, a system of Corinthian pilasters and arch-headed windows, with octagonal ends, under a tall, slanted, copper roof that is pierced with bronze-finished bull's-eye dormers. New York society turned out to attend the gala dinner that marked the opening of The Pierre; it was prepared by Auguste Escoffier, "the father of French chefs", who served as a guest chef at The Pierre in its early years. As markets continued to collapse during the Great Depression, The Pierre went into bankruptcy in 1932. The oilman, J. Paul Getty, bought it for about $2.5 million in 1938 (approximately $41.9 million in 2013) and subsequently sold many cooperative apartments in the building. Beginning in 1948, New York City's ABC television and FM radio station (then called WJZ-TV Channel 7 and WJZ-FM 95.5, now WABC-TV and WPLJ) broadcast from a tower atop the Pierre, until moving to the Empire State Building a few years later.[citation needed] The Pierre was the scene of the Pierre Hotel Robbery in 1972. Today, the hotel contains 189 guest accommodations, including forty suites, and thirteen grand suites. Dining options in the hotel include the restaurant Sirio located off Fifth Avenue and the 2E Lounge off the Main Lobby of the hotel. The Pierre came under the management of the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in 1981. In its 75th anniversary year in 2005, The Pierre became a Taj Hotel as Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, a global chain of fine luxury hotels and resorts, succeeded as the new lessee and operator. Taj Hotels is part of India's Tata Group.[7] In 1959, seventy-five apartments were sold to a cooperative of private residents, while The Pierre's owner at that time, J. Paul Getty, retained control of the hotel's services and guest rooms. Among the permanent residents at The Pierre have been Elizabeth Taylor, Viacom entertainment-company chairman Sumner Redstone, Mohamed al-Fayed, then the owner of Harrods, and the late designer Yves Saint-Laurent. Thirteen of the apartments have since become "grand suites". The Pierre rises over Central Park A triplex co-op that occupies the top three floors was placed on the market in 2003, with a pricetag of $70 million.[8] This 11,000-square-foot (1,000 m2) apartment features five bedrooms, four terraces, a paneled library, a wine cellar, a black Belgian-marble staircase and the hotel's former ballroom with 23-foot (7.0 m) high ceilings. It was originally purchased by the hedge-fund manager Martin Zweig, from publishing heiress Mary, Lady Fairfax, in 1999 for $21.5 million. With its $70 million price tag payable in full at purchase, the co-op was listed in 2006 in Forbes Magazine as the eighth-most expensive home in the world,[9] fourth-most expensive home in the United States,[10] and second-most expensive home in the Northeastern United States in 2006.[11] It was again put on the market in 2013 at the asking price of $125 million.[12] The board of directors has turned-down two would-be buyers.[13] The penthouse returned to the market in March 2013 for an asking price of $125 million.[14] The price was adjusted to $95 million later that year.

Fort Tryon and The Cloisters in New York Part 1 -- Filmed on Saturday April 29 2017

10:31
Fort Tryon and the Cloisters www.nycgovparks.org/parks/fort-tryon-park Fort Tryon Park is a public park located in the Hudson Heights and Inwood neighborhoods of the borough of Manhattan in New York City. The 67 acres (27 ha) park is situated on a ridge in Upper Manhattan, with a commanding view of the Hudson River, the George Washington Bridge, the New Jersey Palisades, Washington Heights, Inwood, The Bronx and the Harlem River. It extends from Margaret Corbin Circle in the south to Riverside Drive at Dyckman Street in the north, and from Broadway in the east to the Henry Hudson Parkway in the west. The main entrance to the park is at Margaret Corbin Circle, at the intersection of Fort Washington Avenue and Cabrini Boulevard. The area was known by the name Chquaesgeck by the local Lenape tribe, and was called Lange Bergh (Long Hill) by Dutch settlers until late in the 17th century.[5] It was the location where the Battle of Fort Washington was fought in the American Revolutionary War, but it was, and remained, sparsely populated. By the turn of the 20th century, it was the location of large country estates. The park was the creation of philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who bought up several of the estates beginning in 1917 in order to create it. He engaged the Olmsted Brothers firm – formed by the sons of Frederick Law Olmsted, step-brothers John Charles Olmsted and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. – to design the park, and gave it to the city in 1931; James W. Dawson created the planting plan. The park was completed in 1935. Rockefeller also bought sculptor George Gray Barnard's collection of medieval art and gave to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which from 1934 to 1939 built The Cloisters in Fort Tryon Park to house it. The Cloisters, which was designed by Charles Collens, incorporates several medieval buildings that were purchased in Europe, brought to the United States, and reassembled, often stone by stone. It is home to the Unicorn Tapestries. The park is built on a formation of Manhattan schist and contains interesting examples of igneous intrusions and of glacial striations from the last Ice Age. The lower lying regions to the east and north of the park are built on Inwood marble. The northern boundary of the park is formed by the Dyckman Street Fault. Fort Tryon Park was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and was designated a New York City Scenic Landmark in 1983.

St Regis Hotel on Fifth Avenue -- A video tour -- on Sunday July 19, 2015

01:05
The St. Regis was built by one of the wealthiest men in America, John Jacob Astor IV, as a companion to the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, of which he owned half. The Waldorf-Astoria was, at the time, located 20 blocks south on Fifth Avenue in an area that had begun to decline in social importance as the area near Central Park gained favor. Astor's great-grandfather, John Jacob Astor, had earlier built one of the first modern hotels in the world, the Astor House, in Lower Manhattan in 1836. At the suggestion of his niece, Astor named the new hotel after Upper St. Regis Lake in the Adirondacks. The lake had been named for a French Jesuit priest, John Francis Regis, known for his hospitality to travelers. The 18-story French Beaux-Arts style hotel, the tallest in the city when built, was designed by architects Trowbridge & Livingston, with interiors by Arnold Constable. Construction began in 1901 and the hotel opened September 4, 1904. Eight years after the hotel opened, John Jacob Astor perished in the sinking of the RMS Titanic. Astor's son Vincent inherited the hotel and sold it to Benjamin Newton Duke. In 1927, the Dukes added a new wing designed by Sloan & Robertson to the hotel on the east end, along 55th St. The wing nearly doubled the size of the hotel to 550 rooms, added a rooftop ballroom/nightclub, and increased the height to 20 stories. In 1932, the iconic "Old King Cole" painting by Maxfield Parrish, which had been created for Astor's defunct Knickerbocker Hotel, was moved to the St. Regis and made the centerpiece of a new bar, the King Cole Bar, which has remained a New York institution ever since. Two years later, in 1934, bartender Fernand Petiot invented a drink there which he called the "Red Snapper". It has since become known around the world as the Bloody Mary. In 1935, in the depths of the Great Depression, Vincent Astor bought the hotel back from the Dukes and set about remodeling it and restoring its reputation as New York's most elegant hotel. Vincent Astor died in 1959 and the following year the hotel was sold to Mexican hotel mogul Cesar Balsa. The hotel was named a New York landmark in 1965. After quickly going through three additional owners in the early 1960s, Sheraton Hotels finally purchased The St. Regis in February 1966, renaming it The St. Regis-Sheraton. They completely remodeled the hotel in 1977 and then closed it in 1988 for an even more thorough restoration. The hotel reopened in September 1991 as The St. Regis again, transformed at a cost of over $100 million into one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. Starwood Hotels bought Sheraton in 1998 and soon after decided to use the St. Regis name to launch a new brand of hotels. The St. Regis was made the flagship of a new line of St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, ultra-luxury establishments in major cities and resort destinations around the globe. At this time, the original hotel's name was changed slightly to The St. Regis New York, to differentiate it from the over forty different St. Regis Hotels now in operation or opening in the next few years.

New George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal

08:34
New George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal George Washington Bridge Bus Station is a commuter bus terminal located at the east end of the George Washington Bridge in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan in New York City, New York. The bus station is owned and operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. On a typical weekday, approximately 20,000 passengers on about 1,000 buses use the station. The building, an example of 1960s urban renewal, has been described as a blight on its surrounding environment and "a brutal assault on the senses". Its upper-level bus ramps block light, as well as the view of the George Washington Bridge, from an entire block of Fort Washington Avenue. Major renovations, including an expansion of retail space from 30,000 to 120,000 square feet (3,000 to 11,000 m2), began in late 2013 and were expected to cost more than US$183 million. Although scheduled to be completed in early 2015, the renovated station reopened on May 16, 2017, two years behind schedule, $17 million over budget, and still unfinished.

Italian Market in Philadelphia

04:37
This is a short tour of the Italian Market in Philadelphia. It is one of those areas that has made Philadelphia known as a diverse city with a rich cultural history. The Italian Market is the popular name for the South 9th Street Curb Market, an area of Philadelphia featuring many grocery shops, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, cheese shops, butcher shops, etc., many with an Italian influence. The historical heart of the market is the area of 9th Street between Christian Street and Washington Avenue, and is now generally considered to extend from Fitzwater Street at the north to Wharton Street at the south. The term Italian Market is also used to describe the surrounding neighborhood between South Street to the North and Wharton Street to the South running a few blocks to the east and west of 9th street. Although it is considered the social and commercial heart of the Philadelphia Italian community, the Ninth Street Market was an ethnic mix from its inception. In recent years, an influx of immigrants from Latin America, mainly from Mexico, has significantly changed the Italian Market area and it is now also home to many stores and restaurants catering to Philadelphia's Hispanic population.

Persian Parade in New York Part II on Sunday April 19, 2015

02:08
It was a beautiful Sunday and 10’s of thousands were at the Persian Day Parade on Madison Avenue in New York. It started at 12 noon and went from 38th Street on Madison Avenue to 26th Street on Madison Avenue. It was really amazing to see so many people from different areas in Persia and ethnic groups from within Persia. The parade itself is sponsored by the Persian Parade foundation. It is the 12th anniversary of the largest Persian parade around the globe. The Parade itself is non-political and a non-religious cultural event celebrating the culture, traditions, and contributions Persians have made to the global community, and is dedicated to all Iranian and people of Persian descent across the globe. The parade will have representation from many Persia’s richly diverse and large religious and ethnic communities including Muslims, Christian/Armenian, Jews, Zoroastrians, Baha’is, Kurds, Baluchies, Turkish and people of Caspian region - just to name a few. All of these diverse groups will be participating in the Persian Parade. They will not promote their religious beliefs or political ideologies, but will celebrate their great Persian heritage. One of the main threads that bring our community together is the celebration of the Persian New Year “Nowruz”, which literally means “new day” and coincides with the arrival of the first day of Spring.
