The Junk Gypsy duo, Amie and Jolie, will show you how to make a dreamcatcher; your very own dream catcher that you can create at home. This traditional symbol is rather easy to create and you’ll have fun creating it on your own.
You can use any color, beads, feathers or anything you want to decorate them. For making a dreamcatcher, you’ll need a loom that you can easily find in a craft store. For weaving the web, you can use jute, a rather inexpensive alternative to leather that’s been used in the one that’s ready. Start weaving the web around the loom. You can use colorful strings, leather, ribbons or any material and weave in beads to make it look colorful.
Feathers are an integral part of the dreamcatchers and here, we’re using large white feathers. We’re spraying them with metallic color and sprinkling glitter while the paint is still wet. Paint the blue straps on the feathers without taking too much color on the paint brush. If you want even straps, you can use a mastic tape to create sections before you color.
Once you’re done with painting the feathers, tie or glue them on to strands of jute. Tie the strand around the quill several times to secure it. Create as many strands with feather as you like and tie them on the loom. Your very own dream catcher is ready! Hang it over your bed, on the door or anywhere in your room or give them away as gifts.
